Screen Shot 2016-05-01 at 8.05.48 PMFirst World, Second World, and Third World countries –  Do you think this classification is an accurate representation of the world?

On this episode of Global Connection, Drake and Serena discussed their experience and observations about this map. Both emphasized that although the United States is a First World country, there is definitely room for improvement.

Serena: Our students are not performing as well as they could be. We rank 24th in the area of mathematics and this is behind some of the developing countries.

Drake: And believe or not, we are 27th in the world for infant mortality. And we talk about the pursuit of happiness that is in our country’s founding documents, but we are listed 15th in the world for being a satisfied country!

Here is some more information we discovered about those rankings:

Although we can always learn something from other countries, Drake and Serna both agreed that we live in the greatest country in the world and they are very blessed to live here.
